About Us

PAST - PRESENT - FUTURE

In Östermalms Saluhall from 1888, Stockholmers and tourists from near and far have been inspired by food at its best. To be able to celebrate another 130 years with one of Stockholm's foremost trading places, the hall has been renovated and the original star-shaped floor plan has been recreated. The new food hall re-opened March 5, 2020.

Östermalms Saluhall has been named "The world's 7th best food hall".

The acknowledgement was given to us by the prestigious and award-winning magazine Bon Appétit in 2007. Among others, on the top ten list, were the food market halls in Tokyo and Budapest.

Östermalms Saluhall receiving international attention is nothing new in itself. This meeting and trading place is found in most guidebooks of Stockholm and has attracted visitors for more than 130 years. The world-famous chef Jamie Oliver has appointed Östermalms Saluhall to one of his favourite places in Stockholm, which is also something that we see as "a feather in the cap" and a good sign that our environment and food culture is highly valued abroad.

Tradition, quality & personal service since 1888

In Östermalms Saluhall, we are 18 traders. Many of us run a family business that has existed here for generations. What unites us is the passion for really good food, high quality in every aspect of our work and the personal meeting with you as a customer. Together we want to give a food-shopping experience that will inspire you. One of our most important ingredients is personal service. With that comes a joy of sharing our knowledge straight over the counter. So please ask us about cooking, menus and recipes the next time you are here shopping or just looking around.

SAID ABOUT ÖSTERMALMSHALLEN

"It's an oasis in Stockholm. I feel so good just walking in the aisles and look. We are regulars at several traders here and when the record studio had a party, we often used food from Östermalmshallen."

—  Måns Zelmerlöw, artist

"It is inspiring to go inside the market hall when you do not know what to cook. If you want to treat yourself to something, you go to Östermalmshallen and the nice feeling it gives to stroll here you must have sometimes. If you buy salmon elsewhere, it is not as good as in this food hall."
